    Hi all,

Thought I would share my latest project, yes MTS has hit bad, tank number 5 and number 6 in planning already,

Okay, so I bought the below tank on Gumtree, collected last Saturday and the work started, stripped the tank down to the bone. I then made my internal bio filter as below from 6mm plexiglass. Had 50mm square tube frame made and painted.

The bad luck struck yesterday morning before I could even have my first cup of coffee, stand by the tank removing the jig for holding the bracing in, with tank cycling, every mans worst dream, IT BURST the from panel!! Seriously thought I was dreaming and when reality set in it was O MY @#$%!!! After investigating the root cause, found the plexiglass panel for filter was 3mm too wide putting excessive stress on front panel!

Well, after a clean up of 270L of water, headed off to glass supplier, new front panel, new long bracing and an additional bracing between from and back long bracing. Some shortening of the plexiglass end making sure there is no pressure on new front panel, all was sealed back together, including the black silicon for all the corners!

This afternoon after checking all is sealed and set, tank was placed back into dining room and setup again.

    Below are some photos:

I have a Sobo 10000k LED which is in my other 4ft as I am waiting for 5 channel LED controller. Still haven't decided what fish yet.

Looking good! The black silicone looks really good.

For matter of interest, what thickness was the glass?

@Jaco83, glass is all 6mm and braced at the top. @Reedfish, planning possibly 4 or 6 Silver Dollars and maybe a few Tetra's.

@Jaco83, front panel was R240, long bracing was R28 and big bracing was R45, so in total was R313 which I thought was not bad at all. Plus of coarse another R100 for clear marine and Devil Glue Black silicone.

Okay, tank been up and running for over a month now. This tank is only a Tetra tank, have 8 rummy nose, 4 emperors, 9 red phantoms, 8 buenos aires, and about another 6 - 8 various tetras , 2 fresh water flounders and 2 bristle nose plecos. Tank is running perfect and water is superb.
