4ft Double Tube Light fitting......

With reference to my "My "new" 4ft tank" thread I decided to add some spice seeing that I am sitting with a 4ft double tube light fitting that is collecting dust in my garage and at risk of being damaged by my very clumsy garden engineer........

I fitted two LED tubes to my tank lid, one white and one red, and I will add a blue one very soon and I will not need to 4ft fitting anymore.

I think hviviers75 have asked if I would like to donate the light fitting to him. I can, but, to follow on to my last thread under my "my "new" 4ft tank" thread where I mentioned I gave my 170lt Sunsun tank, stand cupboard, pump and some odds and ends to a young man of around seven or eight years old who is facing his first Christmas without a father after a recent divorce, the father just could not keep his zipper up....

I will make a deal. I want nothing for the light fitting. I will give the light fitting, in full and proper working condition complete with two brand new fluorescent tubes, one blue and one white, to anybody who will give some fish to this young man to start his tank with. Maybe throw in a decoration or a plant or two. Remember, this is a SunSun 170lt tank, similar, now, actually, exactly like the Buyo tanks available nowadays at the petshops, so don't come with the smallest fish available that you have to use a range finder to see it, a few decent sized hardy fish to start the aquarium with and which he could at least sit and watch.

The first person to respond to this and who lives close enough to not make it a day trip to come fetch the light and bring the fish by Sunday can have the light. Remember, this is not an auction, it is first come with the right sized and quantity of fish and maybe a decoration or two or a plant or two, first served. The first photo is the spec plate on the light fitting, the second photo is all I have showing the fitting at work lying on top of my 4ft.

I dont want anything from you, I have a beautiful jewel pair that I can donate, my only problem is delivery. they are hardy fish but he has to be careful what he puts with them.

 

I will donate fish mostly swords mollies and guppies. The light fitting can go to someone who needs it. Once the tank is more mature i will have some angels aswell.

 

I will be in Pretoria tomorrow, maybe we can make arrangements to meet up Johan, Got year end lunch tomorrow. I can bring a few plants with for him I will send you a whatsapp

I had a WhatsApp discussion with Hannes and he is really in need of the light. He will bring some plants but cannot bring fish with seeing that he will only be able to come past my place after 14h00 tomorrow.

Barry, I will take you up on the offer of a couple of fish for the young man's tank and Ammar, next time I go to Panorama Airfield I will give you a shout and we can get together, I was there two weeks ago on the Saturday. Please keep the jewel pair alive and well until I can arrange either a trip to your direction to come fetch them or someone to come past your place who is coming in my direction. Unless you want to courier them, I will gladly pay for that.

I think this is settled then. Thanks gents, I think all will be happy at the end of the day, specially a young boy who is far too small to have to be the "man" of the house.....................and I will have a new plant in my tank as well!!!!

 

Ammar, that can also work, but like I said above, Hannes cannot bring fish with tomorrow as he will have to go to his office in Sandton first before going to a year end party and maybe ending up having sushi and only delivering branches off a bluegum tree as aquarium plants after enjoying the party too much.......
The fish will have to survive until after 14H00 tomorrow and I think that is risky.

It does sound as if Hannes drinks like a fish............(pun intended)

 

We will be able to pack the fish correctly and i will add them to poly boxes so surely shouldn't be as much trouble to @hviviers75 . Its all for an good cause and almost Christmas Hannes help out with the Christmas spirit ?

I wont be able to collect the fish tonight @Barry Roux and like I said I work in Sandton I would have really liked to be able to bring the fish through.....I personally would not be comfortable with having the fish in the box till tomorrow afternoon after 16h00 dont want to deliver dead fish, so we gonna have to arrange something else for the fish buddy, so sorry...

Barry is in brakpan as well.. no chance to meet up early morning on your way to work?
Im willing to drive to Brakpan to dropoff fish tonight.

My work here in Zondereinde Mine outside Thabazimbi is finished, I will return to Eland Mine outside Brits this afternoon but will still have to go and sleep through the workshop tomorrow at Casa Grande outside Brits.

If we cannot get the fish here I will give him some of mine for now. I can also just take the courier fee and go buy some fish for the young man and we can make an arrangement for later to get your fish. Like I said, I am coming to Panorama airfield again sometime soon.

Lets not put pressure on Hannes, just now he is so nervous with the fish in the car that he forgets to party at his Year End function.

Marcel, this serves a double purpose.

As background. I invited his dad with to watch a rugby match in a "losie" (wat is 'n losie in engels?) along with two other friends at Ellispark sometime this year. Big game Springboks, or whatever is left of them, against some obscure country somewhere. Tickets, drinks, meals, all free. On entering we met up with his sister and her husband, we never knew they were also going to be there. Watched the rugby, had a couple of beers, had food, went home. On getting home his wife and kids along with my wife and kids went to the spur at Menlyn Square Casino, and we joined them there.

After the Spur we all went to my house for coffee and desert and on arriving at our house he walked in, did not even sit down, told his family to get their stuff and they went home. What went wrong I did not know. The Monday his wife came to our house as she was, and still is, very good friends with my wife and his daughter is very good friends with my oldest daughter. She then told my wife that when they got home he informed her that he is seeing someone else and that he wants a divorce.

He now stays in Durban somewhere. He will ask his ex wife to send the kids over for a weekend then he will spend the weekend in his flat fornicating with his girlfriend and the kids will sit and watch tv. The kids now does not even want to go visit there anymore.

This boy is seven or eight years old. He does not understand yet why his dad is not living with them anymore. And I know there are hundreds of thousands of kids of similar age in a similar situation but for this one I can do something, and I will. F...k I get angry again.

These people are now getting by. She works doing graphical art for printers from home and does school book translations for another company. They are not poor, they have everything they need, there are many people out there hoping to get some food today, this household is doing ok. So, this is not because they cannot afford it, it is because they see it as a luxury, I see my 4ft as a decoration in my living area. And I could make this young man smile for a while, and that is worth every cent those items cost me, and more.
