Wouldn't say plasma is worse quality, but the smallest HD plasma at this stage is about 50 inch.. and you get HD LCD from 21inch upwards.. true it does not matter so much for small screens.. but I'm sure I can see the difference in HD and "HD ready" video even on my 27 inch HD samsung..

If you're going to be watching any SD content, then Sony Bravia is the one to go for. If you only going to watch HD contend, then most HD LCD's would do, but don't expect standard tv to look good on a cheap LCD.

"BRAVIA engine is what makes a Sony BRAVIA totally unique. But what is BRAVIA Engine - In short it is a suite of image processing technologies that act as a total digital processing studio. It works to improve the image quality from any signal. As a result, you will see clearer, sharper and more natural images especially relevant when watching standard definition or a Freeview signal."

In my opinion LED tv's are a watse of money.... sure they are very thin and light and pretty to the eye but the only difference between an LCD tv and a LED is that the LED tv is an LCD tv with LED back lighting....

So you get more brightness from an LED and so on but how bright do you wana go before you burn your eyes out of your skull? :p

Believe me looking at those kinda bright images for extended periods of time will start hurting your eyes.

    Plasma.... not in my life....

HD ready or full HD? Full HD of course! HD ready only goes to 720i/p where full HD goes all the way to 1080i/p.

I have noticed playing xbox/blueray on a HD ready TV and it could not compare with the quality of full HD

If budget allows it try to get one with at least a response time of 4ms... anything above that and you might start experiencing some ghosting...

Also perhaps one with at least 100mhz so that you can get clearer picture in fast moving scenes...

Brands? personally never liked LG so I would say any Samsung from a series 6 upwards or a Sony bravia.

(I stand corrected but both Samsung and Sony use the same screens and have a joint share in a company that produces their screens but Samsung has 51% majority in the Company. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-LCD)

Don't bother asking the shop assistants at game and those places as I always found that they have no idea what they are talking about and would tell you anything just to sell you the TV. I also found that the specifications of the equipment in the news paper adds are also...well... wrong.

Like Donovan said... go to a reputable TV place to ask for advice. I basically researched between brands and models for about a month to make sure I have all the facts before I bought a my LCD tv.

Remember, like most things in life... you get what you pay for. Sure somethings are just overpriced but they are probably well worth it!

Rather save up a bit longer and get the TV you want... you wont regret it!
