    Top marks for manners...

*edit Although I suppose if you're moving and it's urgent, it's not so bad. Hope the fish find a good home

I would prefer it if people were to actually introduce themselves in the new members section, and contribute to the forum. For some reason I doubt this person will be an active member, and joined purely to try and sell a HUGELY over priced set up.

McAnix, you'd do better to try and sell this to some one in junk mail or Gumtree.

Moderators, please can we remove this thread?

Apologies, I should have taken a deep breath and waited 10 seconds before replying...

I've been an active member on www.aquariacentral.com and www.fishforum.co.za for a number of years, but the former is international and the latter has closed down.

I've considered the junkmail/gumtree route but decided it would be better to approach this forum as it is more suited to the specialized nature of aquariums.

Also, I'd like to blame both my wife and the 'Endowment Effect' for the inflated price. Make an offer and we can negotiate. I would have liked to participate more on this forum had I known of its existence and would participate more in the future if I had the time, patience, and an aquarium.

Sorry for the clear breach in forum rules, but I'm out of options here :(

McAnix you not the first and will not be the last.

Unfortunately Zoom is right. Second hand fishy things are hard to sell at that price.
For the fishy sake just post the truly lowest price you can go.

if the tank was moulded then it would fetch a higher price but its not so you have a dillema.you might of paid that much but will not be able to get that back..even at 5 grand the price is still high.best of luck with the sale ,you should search the for sale section and see what setups people are selling and their prices.it will give you a indication of how much people are willing to pay..best of luck

The bottom line is: This is a really nice setup. The sump, the tank dimensions etc are all fantastic! It really is a great setup. It would make a brilliant display tank... But, the silicone would probably need to be re-done. It's 8 - 10 years old... and the silicone would take strain on the moving of the tank and on the re filling.

If it was molded glass, I wouldn't recommend to anyone to take the tank. It will most probably have cracked by now, and if it didn't, it probably will soon after the person who buys it, fills it up.

But, if someone is willing to do a bit of DIY and re silicone the tank, it really would make a great display...

I'd like to publically appologies to McAnix for my first post towards him. He has since introduced himself, and has become a fairly active poster.

I hope you are not getting rid of the hobby of fishkeeping alltogether, and that we will have many good threads and posts from yourself.

    Regards
    Z

No worries dude, the internet is a necessary evil sometimes, it has a tendency to provoke the best (and sometimes the worst) in people.
