2nd Pair of Betta - Conditioning

I have decided to try out this pair for spawning, they are in a separate conditioning tank. Feeding them frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp, live adult brine shrimp, atison betta pallets and atison betta pro.

I have decided not to breed this pair. I have another pair that I am starting to condition, female looks loaded with eggs and male looks healthy. I will post a picture of the pair later.

 

2nd that had spawned

This is my second pair who had spawned over this weekend. Massive bubble nest and lots of eggs. Male has been rotating his nest under and all over the floating plants and also had the under the big leaves. Eggs started hatching today.

 

By yesterday afternoon all the fry had been swimming around, was a mission removing the male from the tank. I am busy feeding them liqui fry for egg layers and Atison Betta Starter. I notice that the fry are eating off the glass micro worms as I had added liqui fry before the eggs had hatched. I have a batch of new hatched brine shrimp that I will be starting to feed them by tomorrow. This batch fry is very large. I am going to experiment with this batch of fry by feeding them the Atison Betta Starter for fry.

Female has red blue tint on tail, the reason I wanted her

This male is very aggressive during the spawning process and he seldom left the nest during the incubation period of the eggs. He had been moving this large batch of eggs all over the plants that I had set-up in the corner of the spawning tank. At one stage it look like the eggs where suspended out of the water as the bubble nest was so big. I also added Atison Betta Spa to the spawning tank and kept the tank close with a lid. During the incubation period I kept a rechargeable light buring during the night. Only after third day the male accepted the female to enter the bubble nest as he constantly chased her away. This male is very attentive and really take care of his fry.


Eggs were laid on Saturday 23/03/2012 and by Monday 26/03/2012 they started hatching and by late yesterday afternoon fry was swimming all over the tank, I rather then removed him as he might decide to use them as a food chain.

 

When the light shines on this blue there is a slight green that shows

 

Fry will be now a 1 week old still feeding them Liqui-fry foods mixed with Atison Betta Starter. When I shine the torch into the tank their are lots of fry.
