So here is my tank after all the specking out and looking for the perfect piece of driftwood...

Thermometer will get removed once heater is calibrated, seems to be a bit colder than what its measurement says, but this will probably settle once the lid has also been sorted...

@A new day I hear you telling me plants are too big this morning when I went to shops to find plants

So now for the next steps... Im assuming root tabs and liquid ferts\C02 should be my next item on my shopping list?

Just hope that the LPS I got the plants fro mwas close enough to home so that plants dont melt...

Hope others will chime in also. I would probably do a liquid fertilizer eg Scape complete (seeing that you don’t have any livestock to provide NPK) or Seachem Flourish Advance (trace elements and phytohormones).

Root tabs perhaps further down the line, at first glance I don’t see any heavy root feeders eg crypts, swords, val etc.

If you run into algae issues, a liquid carbon eg Seachem Excel or Scape Carbon.

You could always add pressurised CO2 further down the line if you want to do high tech

Thanks for the feedback, I was also looking at the Scape products as they look good.

Before I go C02, I would go for a Zetlight probably, and just waiting for tank to cycle while trying to avoid an algae problem for now, then later on I would like to add some Shrimps, corries and a few Tetras, but will see once the time comes...

The Scape range is locally manufactured and as far as I understand based on the Tropica range. I’ve never used it myself but have ordered a bottle of Scape Complete.
Seachem Flourish Advance is designed to stimulate new growth (phytohormones and trace elements) without the macronutrients (NPK).

It may be necessary to adjust fert regime throughout the life cycle of the tank, also based on how heavily the tank is stocked seeing that fish food (and poop) provide nutrients for plants. Also the new soil contains nutrients but this will eventually deplete unless supplemented with liquid ferts / root tabs.

So here is week 2, no melting from what I can see and filter is still very clean in general, but matrix balls are starting to go brown and I have been doing water changes and adding Seachem stability, no algae issues, yet....

Just struggling to find a place with nice yellow or jade shrimps

@Nirvashen Thanks for the plants earlier this week, the still a bit hidden behind the driftwood for now...

Looks great @oupoot and on the pic looks much larger than a 2 foot imo which is a good sign!

    Try @ShrimpNation (forum sponsor)

Must be the lack of big plants...:tt2::lol:

I sent them a PM, but they only have 5 yellow shrimps in stock, they are my3rd option.

Ideally I would like Jade shrimp or pumpkin shrimps

Think Art of Aqua might have green Jades in stock if you are looking for them.

    Tank looks good

Just remember to wait a month, ideally more, to let the tank settle before you add shrimp. They don’t handle even the minutest ammonia / nitrite spike.
And in the meantime perhaps add a tiny pinch of fish/shrimp food every second day or so, so that the tank can handle the bioload once the shrimp are actually in?
