    Hi all

Time for a update. Tank is doing good, the GSA is almost gone, got some on the Anubias and some on the Java fern. I figured out what was causing the black hair Algae seems to be bad water flow and possibly
to much Iron. I changed my Iron dosing to Tuesday only and not Thursdays as well.

Thanks @hviviers75. I like the forest look so I think I might keep it like this for a few more weeks and then trim and replant

    It's looking amazing @JDV !!
Another tank that has developed beautifully in a fairly short time

I wouldn't trim the left corner too much, its hiding everything beautifully
The centre, left of the wood... I guess will need a little trim when you ready

    Well done!

    Hi All

Need advice please. This fluff stuff started to grow again in some of the plants. I added a small power head to improve the flow in the tank a bit. Is there anything ells I can do?

Remove as much of it with a old toothbrush it could be while you were dosing to much iron as it is one of the reason of too much iron dosing, maybe dont dose it for a few days.... if you got excel spot treat those areas

Thanks at @hviviers75, the algae on the wood I am fine with the Otto's and mollies seems to like it. Its the Hair Algae on the plants that gets to me.
I will stop dosing Iron for now and see what happens.

give it a week or so then you start dosing small amounts again.....it is hectic to get a tank balanced even I struggle with it at times :)

    Hi All

So the Hair algae seems to be getting worse since I added the power head to give more flow. any Ideas? I am actually thinking maybe I should go back to my 10w LED flood lights. All these algae issues started after changing my lights to the T5's

Thanks @MariaS, I found the source of the algae I hope. dead fish under the power head I installed last week. Might be the source. Something is funny in this tank. Second dead fish in 3 weeks. Going to do a 80% water change today and another 80% on Wednesday. I still think I must go back 10 my 10w flood lights though.

    Hello @JDV

How many t5 do you have above this 2 foot tank, I cant recall...

    Hair/Thread Algae

A species of Filamentous algae it forms as long green threads which feel soft and loose.

The algae will mainly anchor themselves to plants, but can also appear on the decorations and gravel in your aquarium.

Hobbyists call it Hair algae because when you take it out of the aquarium it feels like wet hair. It can be fast growing and hard to get rid of.

    Common Causes of Hair/Thread Algae
It tends to be caused by an oversaturation of nutrients (too much iron is a big one) or too much light (can happen when you’ve installed a new light source).

Hair algae can also appear if you’ve got too much light and not enough nutrients.

Other causes could be a nitrate or CO2 deficit
