2 week holiday tank feeding and maintance advice

Hi guys. need some advice. I am going to El for 2 weeks. my problem is my community tank needs feeding and maintenance while i am away. Any suggestions. No house sitter as yet. not sure if i trust them any how??

 

i would go buy small plastic containers (the type you get take away dipping sauces in) and mesure out the food and write teh date on each of the lids.

 

Would go with Henks advice as far as food and get a timer for lights and tell them not to fiddle with any switches or pumps and explain the lights will come on, on there own.

 

i have seen many a tank die off due to a food timers getting stuck and dumping 3 weeks worth of food into a tank at once.... avoid at all costs if you are going away

 

Some good advice given by Donny, the timer will take care of the light, and you never have to turn them on or off again. Money well spent.
With regards to the feeding, I use plastic pill bottles and measure out the food for each feeding. When I am away, the fish only get fed every second day.
Other than that, I will do the regular tank maintenance a day or two before I leave.

 

Would also give person the rules of the tank in a serious format.
1. dont touch any switches
2. only feed one plastic tube of food every 2nd day
3. date them
4. and leave your cell number
