That would make a nice Marine Reef Tank.

Back to your tank....think it would look awesome if your tank will be filled with only Malawi's

I would love malawi's but I heard they can be a bit difficult? And need special water parameters?

Think with that setup and sump you good to go.
Research what their parameters are and dive into the Malawi's

Thanks again Ferdie, funny enough I researched this about 8 to 10 years ago for bonsai but it was very difficult to get then well at least here in kzn. As for the orange bags what are your thoughts on that as a bio media?

I have kept Malawis in the past.
They are not difficult at all.
Do a bit of research. There are 2 main groups that have different requirements

And most important, find out what your water chemistry is - Mals need hard water with a high ph. If your water is too soft, there are relatively easy ways of hardening it.

PH is around 6.8 from the tap, would they manage with that or would I need to up it? Not sure who I will get the fish from and what their PH would be but I will try local if possible.

    Nice big tank @RobK !!

Definitely following... and yes... a tank full of Malawis looks stunning.

However, take a drive around and have a look at the lfs's display tanks... then do some homework...before you make a final decision

Hi all, what do you suggest if anything to place on the bottom of the tank to protect it from rocks and heavy structure?

Eggcrate is a type of plastic, which people commonly put in the bottom of the tank to help with weight distribution before setting up a tank.

Not sure if Builders sells it but most LFS'S in our area do.
