anubias was taking up too much space (20% floor space) so it had to go.. so out the tank and in the pond it went :)

    thanks moe101. pm sent.

im sure you guys have noticed that i havnt been active much recently.. its due to some tragedy with my tank....

i used some human de-wormer to get rid of the snails a few weeks back.. this worked GREAT.. BUT... the ammonia from the mass death of the snails killed off 70% of my fish..in turn, this excess amonia and organics in the tank also lead to all sorts of problems including an algae out break..

in this tank, im now plagued with hair algae, staghorn, gsa and BBA.. ALL AT ONCE.. i'll take a pic tonight to show u guys the devastation im faced with..

i totally got discouraged for a week or 2 and i stopped dosing ferts for about week but after doing reasearch, i should keep my ferts up so that my plants can recover quicker thus taking over from the algae. also doing 2xWC weekly now as well..

interesting enough, tom barr suggests that nitrates and phosphates arent causes of algae but an im ballance of ferts, lights and co2 are the main causes of algae.. one of the biggest factors being co2.

another guy on toms forum also commented that he notices hair algae growth when his nitrates are low.. hmm interesting.

so im going to keep up with the fert reigeme, up my co2 just a little and carry on with the WC.

lets see how this turns out. fingers crossed, it'll be over sooner than i think...but for now its really bad ;(..........

Human dewormer to get rid of snails?
    Sounds interesting, care to elaborate?
Because I'd consider taking my fish out of my tank for a while to get rid of the snails

De wormer is safe for fish though.. What I'd do(from my lesson learnt) is to get rid of as much snails manually first, then add the meds.. Then the ammonia spike wont be as hectic.. Having millions of snails die in ur tank, even though ur fish arent in there, is bad for ur tank too.. What Ive learnt is too much organics in the tank is bad.
