@supey erm.. what do u mean? like tank stats? in this thread it includes the build of my cabinet and progress of plant success, fish deaths and fish successes which part do u wanna summarise?
Hey Shihr. I'm just trying my luck. Was wondering if I could get a summary of the 26pages(make that 27). But I've been reading through it bit by bit, and there's so much information, that I don't think it could be summarised. All good:blink1: Excellent tank you got there. I wish to be at your level one day
wow.. massive complement.. thanks man.. im still learning too.. i think this thread also shows that even though ive been learning for 6 yes, i still make many novice mistakes yes lots of info here and lots of tips and help from other members! so happy reading
i'll do a summary page when im satisfied with this tank.. ive been away from my tank for nearly 2 wks now and i really miss it.. i get nightmares of going home to a fishless tank with melted plants oh well.. i'll have to do some equipment shopping to make me feel better haha..
LOL, I kinda know the feeling man. I just want some kickstart to having the mindset to absorb the whole planted tank thing. Any good books to look out for perhaps? or links to some valuable info? I want to know everything. And maybe become like most of you, and be a resource to information. ps. TASA is the best. :bigsmile:I'm gonna make sure I'm on here everyday just so I don't miss out on anything.
@shihr Hows the tank doing? Any massive improvements? Could i possibly get some clippings from you the next time you do maintenance? Want to give this a go again lol
well heres a vid of my tank atm.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgkEx-dmKvg i left overseas for 3wks and my friend fed the fish for me. my pump and co2 was off accidentally when i was doing maintenance before i left so there was only plants as filtration as the lights were the only thing that was working.. luckily for the duck weed i think it soaked up the excess ammonia and nitrates that formed..i think in total only one or 2 neons died plants really took off though!
it only goes to show, it is possible to run an almost copmpletely biological setup... pretty cool dude, i'm loving it
ya well when the duckweed took over it basically turned it into a low tech setup! lower lights and no ferts besides from fish poop im glad it turned out this way.. else by the time i got back the tank would have been sucked dry of ferts and the plants would have looked bad im sure! thanks for the complements.. im going to get rid of all the duckweed tonight though
haha.. thanks but im way far from that.. i just take some of his principles and apply it to my own scapes
Absolutely stunning tank shihr! Very insperational for new members, especially showing all the diy stuff you have done to bring it together.
thanks RobSA heres a new pic of my tank after chucking a whole big bag of duckweed and hacking away the stems at the back..im thinking of replanting the back as its really really messy atm.. and heres a vid if anyone is interested:
Wow shihr that ground cover really filled up nicely, I must admit in the begining I thought that it will take a long time to fill the whole ground section but it looks good. Keep up the good work look forward to the next pic after the replant.
not much of an update but pulled all the glosso out.. replaced it with HC.. its growing.. but not sure if it'll take because the gravel is so large.. heres a pic of my Rotala Macrandra.. its so red its nearly dark purple! heres a pic of my monster Ammania Gracilis! nice pink plant that grows pretty big
