In the fishkeeping hobby or in general?

For fishkeeping, I've used it for drying, a preventative measure for wetness when doing water changes, abundant packaging material for delicate stuff, insulation for long trips with fish, to stuff under a table leg to balance it... I think that's all. It's a cheapo solution but a solution to many problems nonetheless.

Fold old newspaper out, flat under your bed-sheet. (About 12 pages thick. ) you won't get cold in winter. (Did this in the army)

It eats odours. Work boots smelly? Stuff ’em with newspaper. The odour disappears.

Animal bedding. It’s warm and healthier than sawdust or straw, since it inherently resists bacteria and is non-toxic if eaten.

Use it for a make-shift funnel to pour oil into your car's engine without messing on the engine.

Use it to start a braai. Crumpled newspaper works, but rolling sheets diagonally and tying them in a lazy knot works better.

Use old newspapers to polish windows to a streak-free shine. Also great for polishing chrome.

Buy some glue, long sticks, string, and let your kids make kites.

That's brilliant I have alot of little cousins who want to play with the fish but must
wake them up first by banging on the glass, well if they dont want to listen they must
    feel. lol!!!!!

    Here's some extra:
. Wrap Avo's in to ripen them
. Cleaning windows to make them shine
. A puppy chew toy that you put down for them during puppy
potting training, they pull it up & then want you to chase them
after they have ripped it apart & redecorated the sitting room.

"Babe, pass me the newspaper, please".
"Honey, using a newspaper is so old fashioned nowadays. Use the TAB".
That cockroach didn't know what hit him.
So yes, getting the odd insect with a paper sometimes work.
