So here it is, my first tank on TASA, and for now it,s just a tank.
Well I'm starting a new tank. A 1200 X 600 X 600mm tank, it's a nice size. I got it from a guy selling it on Gumtree, think it's not a bad find, it's still in a good condition. So at the moment i've only got the tank and sump(which was included in the deal). so I have to get a stand and everything, so this will take a while to get started.
In the end this tank will be replacing all the other tanks, well there is just two of them. Im planning on keeping mainly discus in there, will have to see what else.
Here is a pic of the tank:

    and the sump:

PS, if the pics are to big, let me know so that i can resize please

    Yes I also love DIY!

The main fish will probably be discus and harlequins, will have to see.

The hole is actually weird, it sits on the side, strange. but hopefully it works, the guy said it does, he used it for marines.

The tank and the sump I got for R750:bigsmile:

    Looks like a custom job

You just get tank and sump? no extras? Price is okay, wouldnt say it was a bargain.
But nice tank and sump. Looking forward to see how it goes along

Get yourself a bottle of white vinegar. It will clean the glass up nicely and then just rise very good with some warm water. :cheesy:

ya the no extra's suck, but the condition of the tank is what made it worth while for me, I don't want another show tank with scratches. And yes it's round about 430L.

About the overflow, what would anyone suggest I use to stop the fish from falling in the overflow/sump?

Toshi, contact me if you need help with building the stand. Use a piece of UGF plate as a strainer.

Get perspex strips and cut slots in it with a grinder and silicone it to the overflow. Take a look at an aquah2o tank with a sump, they have something like that on it.

Silicon some hair comes onto the overflow. Bristles pointing up out of the water. Water will go through the comb, but fish won't.

The only problem I see with using sponges is that it will become dirty and stop the flow. I was also thinking of using perspex. the hair comes sounds interesting. but it all depends on what I do with the background, what will look best.
