Tank looks awesome but you running the risk of your base cracking from the pics you have the tank overlaps the ends of your stand, this will cause a problem with pressure.

Donny, i has been standing like this for about 3 months now, is it realy that bad? it over hangs with about 80mm on each side.

Yeah it is bad....all it needs is one side to get more weight or preassure and the other side will crack....
I can't see any bracing on your tank?that adds to the risk...extend the syand by 8mm on each side it will save you a tank .

Otherwise that tank is looking nice! I'm also using the pfp method, my tank still clearing up

Brads it is braced at the top and the bottom of the tank and its 6mm glass.

I think the degree of badness is directly related to the risk you are willing to take should it crack ... - maybe hope down to xxxx - get some 20 mmm supawood - yes they will cut take the measurements with (or what ever you prefer) and slide that underneath with a big water change before you add fish.

I agree 110% with F-Fish get a peace of wood under your tank, that extends maybe 10 mm out on each side.

Seems we are all noticing the same thing here.

Schalk, what is happening is on either side of the tank, the weight it causing tension on the glass as it is pulling down on either side. This creates stress on the glass, and all it would take is for you to accidentally tap the stressed part even with your fish net, a glass scraper, of even your belt as you are cleaning... and CABLOOM... the tank will crack.

Even putting just a piece of board under their might not suffice. Remember that the wood will also bend under the strain. I would recommend you to put at least a 25-30mm board (minimum- thicker being better) under the tank. Ensure the board is 10mm wider than the width and length of the tank.. and where the board overlaps the table, I would put some legs on there as well.

You will be surprized how heavy that tank is. In my honest opinion, even putting it on that table is a risk because that table was not originally designed to take that kind of weight.

Schalk, just to give you an idea tgo back up what everyone else is saying. 1 litre of water is roughly 1kg, looking at you tank, i would guess 350kg+ hence the stress on the table and bass on the tank that everyone is one about

    Update:
I orderd the steel for the tanks frame today and i will hopefully finish it this weekend!!

I got some more silica sand and some more pfp for the rescape coz i have to take everything out of the tank to move it...
With This stand i will be able to start up the 3ft tank i had before i got the 4ft again coz the stand will take both the tanks!
I cant wait! Will keep everyone updated with pics!

Nice - you have an idea what the stand design will look like?
I have my 4ft on a typical shop stand .. add a base over the support below to house a 3ft - found the the 3ft was just to high to work comfortably in that space - had a custom tank made for the gap, moved it later to a stand that I made (2 3ft's stacked and the custom on top) now have two 18*9 inch tank under the 4ft in the gap. Lesson a bit of planning makes MTS much simpler - I did not since the 4ft was an impulse buy ...

Schalk you will need about 30 cm of space between the top of you tank the bottom of the stand which hold the tank above it , you want working space and canopy space.
I also built a stand and had to cut it eventually cause there just wasnt enough space :)

    Plants look awesome
