Nobody has atm because they can only be imported and that's an issue currently. Unless someone is breeding them privately here

These aren't freshwater fish, unfortunately. They require brackish water

I honestly feel like we'll only be getting decent imports next year the rate things are going.. I'm also still looking and waiting for pea puffers but I've decided to just wait and let my tank mature more, I've put some male guppies in my tank that was meant for puffers just to keep me entertained until I can find any

I am also interested - I want to have a go at breeding them since they seem in demand but are seldom seen at LFS

Wazeers in Boksburg usually has them and they are receiving shipments, in fact a shipment came in last week, not sure if there were any puffers but i got some blueberry silver dollars from the said shipment

Aquarium Center also received a shipment this week, quite a selection of fish as well

I saw that import list and didn't see any true freshwater puffers on it. Just green spotted puffers.

I just moved my puffers to friend's place as I haven't had power for nearly 24 hours. The true freshwater puffers I've seen are arrowhead puffers, dragon/humpback puffers, pea puffers, hairy puffers, fahaka puffers, pao abei and avocado puffers. They are hard to find but do pop up on occasion.

4 pea puffers and a dragon puffer. My sister also had 2 pea puffers but sadly one passed away because it wasn't eating enough. I'm currently dealing with the same issue with one of my pea puffers. They were getting crushed snails and mealworm guts and was slowly picking up weight.

Ah I am sorry about that. Can you not isolate the weaker one in a tank and feed him food by himself?

He's not really bothered by the space as the others would have picked on him while eating. Bit like this I can see him eating and he's slowly gaining some weight. Also he is move interactive with me as he follows me for food instead of hiding away like he used to. Also treated him with dewormer before I put him with my original pea puffer. I got 5 of them before lockdown started back in March.

ah I am happy to see the little guy is slowly eating and its all due to having a good owner such as yourself. very lucky to have pea puffers. I shall wait to get mine, just bought a brand new 60L setup now I am going to cycle for 3 weeks before adding plants and then another week before the pea puffers...well that was the plan lol

Get snails going the the tank. Really helps with pea puffers when they are picky eaters.
