I've truthfully never been a fan of any of the live bearer species. Don't know why, but don't like em... Sorry

Given the right circumstances they breed like guppies.

Like all egg scatterers they eat their own eggs, as well as fry.
Fry generally stay close to the surface, while the adults stay closer to the bottom.
With some Java Moss or Hornort in the tank some of the fry may survive to adulthood.

If you seriously want to breed them, you would need a number of small tanks, where you an remove the spawning media daily, and place into another tank.
That way, the eggs get a chance to hatch, and the fry can grow out.
The fry are TINY, like a sliver of glass in the tank.

I expect them to be like the celestials. Same family of course. i tend to leave a pair in a spawning tank for a few days and then move the adults rather.
Hoping so. Never had this type of success with my celestials. Usually only about 10 per spawn at a time

I've read that they drop eggs over a period so you are right i would have to remove them.
maybe this will be my second project after i get my rainbows going.
might be visiting you soon for some guppies

If you're ever in the South of Jhb and looking for some fish. Have a look at Andrews Aquatics. Was surprised by this Betta quality, even more so when the price was lower than most others I checked out.
