I'll be there hopefully?? With my 20KG camera!! And eventually a sunburnt face and a sore back!!

Missed the last 2 shows!! Really gutted I missed the one with the 4 lightnings flying together!! Never EvER to happen again!! I was doing sound for my friends wedding!Thankfully, my friend was getting married in Pinelands, and they flew over the church about 5 mins before the bride arrived!! Still, would have loved to have seen them closer!!

Maybe we could car pool?? THat way I can leave the car for my wifey to use!! Haha! Like the way I did that?? Suggested someone elses car to be used instead of mine!! haha! Then again, my car is a health hazard at the mo!! 5 year old eating in it, Father who can't clean it with a buggered back!!

    Cheers!!
    G!

LOL Big G, I like your sense of humour :D Car pooling is a great idea. I'm afraid we're coming from the northern subarbs though :(

I missed last years show too :( very upset about that... but I do have pics from the previous show if you want to see them. They're not the greatest, but I think this years pics will be nicer (I hope)

Scuse the mess, seems my photo's are somewhat scattered throughout that album.

Sounds like the wedding was nice! must've been something watching those planes fly over as the bride arrived.

Oooh, do not forget a chair and sunblock.

Yer, the car pooling was more intended for the southern suburb guys!! I'm sure there must be a few??

Anyhow, I'm hoping my dad will be visiting form the UK in September, so hopefully he can coincide that with the airshow?? He is the reason I love planes so much!!

    Cheers!

Its actually not an airshow but a weapons fair - some REALLY big $$$ changes hands on the trade show days.

The public is only allowed in on the last two days - so unless you have a pass dont even try for the trade days.

I'm involved with the Youth Development side of things - we will most prob have our shackleton sim there again...

It's also held every 2 years with the SAAF having the TFDC shows on the years that its not AAD.

I can generally get hold of trade day passes, but I've never used one as yet!! Usually too busy to get there during the week!!

Still, I do volunteer work in Pinelands, so I usually get to see half the aircraft flying over!! The church is right on the flight line!!

I'd be interested to see the Shackleton sim!! One of my all time favourite planes!! I'd love to be able to sit in a real one!! haven't done that since I was about 8!!

One more question.... How on earth do you get into the SAAF musueum?? Where is the entrance??

    Cheers
    G!

Oooh wish I knew the name of the road now, but if you turn up at the robots by King Hall (I think that's what it used to be called) and go right to the end of the road, the entrance is on your left hand side. Went there a few years ago with a photography group to take some photo's hehe

Ok, so you actually have to go onto the base?? Its just I follow the sign down that road, and when I get to the end, the base entrance on the left has armed dudes and a sign saying entrance to the base only by prior arrangement with base commander or summut like that?? Too intimidated by the armed dudes to ask!! Haha!!

    Cheers

LOL nah don't worry about them. They're meant to look intimidating. You just go in and tell them you want to go to the museum :) If you can, ask really nicely if they'll allow you into the hangers where they're renovating the planes. You can go and sit in the heli's etc. GReat fun!

You have to go into the main gate - NO photography on the base unless you have filled in the forms and have the OC of the bases permission.

Ask for Des or Tammy to take you to the museum hanger - the shack lives in there. You cant get into her unless Pottie happens to be there and opens her up for you.

I just use me base security passes to get in - no paper work :D

cant mate - its for me and my ugly mug only...

You need to 1st go to 505 (secutiry) sqn and they will sign the camera in - you then need to report to the museum and ask them to take you to the hangar.

you can drive into the base after signing up - park at the museum which is in the non-secure part of the base - they will then walk you into the security area.

Some time in march the Stellies flying club has their FASHOKOSH fly-in.... VERY good fun and the shack sim will be there

Thanks for all the info Linxie and Henk.
I will be there for sure. Just have to make sure I get my "local goverment's" permission first. LOL
Been fascinated by planes and helicopters my whole life. I can't wait to get a chance to fly in the Hueys that do flips over West Coast.
