I've been keeping Angels m the day I started to keep fish.
There is 2 Angels that use to be calm with each other and use to swim together. Lately they have serious battles and they bite each other. When they start all the other Angels will disappear.

How do you sex an Angel that I can check if I can get them girl friends or boy friends or whatever they want.

If I catch them again with a fight I'll try to take a video

    Hi,

You can only see what they are when they are spawning and that would be when their tubes come out. You can't choose males or females.

Hmmnn... how many Angels in how much water? What's the temperature of your tank?

When cichlids(in general) start forming a pair bond - there will be quite a bit of aggression flying around - this is both partners testing each other to see whether they are "strong" enough to go through the rigorous process of spawning....
As for visually sexing angels...Eish..it's an experience thing.... there are certain morphological changes between the sexes, miniscule, but it takes time to learn what to look for....

Thanks. Lately the territorial fights is getting really bad. It sometimes looks like they want to kill each other. From the 5 angels I've still got, the 2 big Angels fight most of the day.

Well depends how big the Angel is. If it's full grown you can normally see the sex from the shape of their forehead. Males have a more obvious hump. Only applies when they are adults.

That doesn't look too bad to me. Mine also does it sometimes. Then they settle after some time.

That is some of the easy attacks. From the morning the light goes on till the evening they fight with each other. They only go for a rest when they eat.

    Stalker,

There is a rule that I apply in my keeping of angels and that is if I do not want fishes to reproduce or show this agression, I reduce the temp to between 24 to 26 C. If I want to breed them I increase the temp to 28 C and then this behaviour kicks in rapidly. So if you want to control the aggression reduce the temp. What is your temp now? I am sure over 26C?

    Kind regards,

    Dirk

The water temp is 25 in the night and 26 to 27 in the day. The heater is turned off, that is how hot it becomes around.

    Hi Stalker,

Yes and it is exactly that temp of above 26 C which is driving them into breeding mode and causes the aggression. If you can get the temp down this will get better.

    Kind regards,

    Dirk

The problem is that sometimes the water go up to 28 and the heater is not even on.

Thanks to eveybody for the info.

@Dirk Bellstedt. I've done some homework on what you said on your post. The 2 is a pair and the female is the agro one. She is checking out if the male is good enough.

Because of some problems with water and getting the water fixed to be save for the fish and temperature going to 30 deg some days, they think it is season time.

Thank you for all the help. It helped me a lot to do more resurge on they behavior.

The Angel in the front left side is currently the most aggresive Angel in the tank, The Angel in the back right side use to be the most aggresive Angel in the tank till its partner died after I moved. Now it is almost impossible to find it in the tank.

Today is a good day for me. I've phoned some friend that know how to sex Angels and he told me how to look if it is a male or female. It is so easy to sex them, but before I am going to say anything I am going to visit him and check if I do it correctly.
