Howdy everyone... I'm doing a DIY 120lt tank with dimensions of 750L x 400W x 400H and was wondering if 5mm glass with top and bottom (front and back) bracing will be strong enough?

Agree 6mm - easy to get even from builders, should be perfect without bracing.

    Hi Ferdie,

That looks like a very handy calculator, I have loaded that into my favourites.

    Many thanks,

I have a 120 with 5mm glass and no bracing. And its 45 high. The safety rating f-fish calculated with is on the high side. I can confirm 5mm is perfectly safe even when filled to 40cm without bracing. My tank doesn't bow at all.

You dont have to go with 3.8 safety. That is compensating for bad quality glass.

When in doubt go 10mm, if still in doubt, go 12mm

Cool... So decided to go with the 6mm glass + top and bottom bracing. That should stop it from bursting and waking me up with 120lt of water and and my fish falling onto my bed in the middle of the night:p
