    I want to keep some cichlid species in a 90 cm tank. Here are two species I want to keep:

    Krib (Pelvicachromis pulcher) & Zebra cichlid (pseudotropheus zebra)

    Can I keep this two species together? Will they be fine with kuhli loaches?

    thanks

    hey both of those are from africa but i think the water conditions for them are slightly different ,the malawi liking really hard water and the krib slightly softer water ,just my thoughts.so i wouldnt mix them personally.

    Like firemanmuzz said: water conditions to different..... not even talking hardness your pH difference is immense: 5.5 -6.5 for krib and 7.5-8.5 for zebra.

    Also, most malawi mbunas (like the zebra is very aggressive and territorial, even when not breeding). Krib also very aggressive when breeding....

    I would say don't try it. Krib is a stunning fish! Easiest cichlid to keep and breed imo.....

    @Rooivlerkie, Kribs do well in a community tank and even with Kuhli Loaches but when they breed they tend to become territorial. Even though the Loaches like soft water, the Kribs have no problem adjusting and mine just love breeding in the softer water...

    Okay thanks.
    I think I will try the kribs.
    How much males and how much females should I keep in the tank?
    And if they breed should I removed the parents?

    I would keep 1 pair per tank. More, and there could be fighting.
    They show parental care and look after the babies when they are very small, so you will not need to remove them.

    @Reedfish thanks

    Would the kuhlis be a problem if the kribs spawn?

    I wouldn't keep any other fish with the Kribs if you are trying to breed them. They will probably be ok during the day, but at night the Khulis could go for the eggs or small fry.
