Lame or not I made this thread.

Post your dream aquarium. The one you hope you can create one day. Scape, size, Fish .....

I will start (I have many)

I want a Huge display tank for my Movie Room, about a 1000L will do.
I A black Background and well planted. There should be a uv moon light at night to show off the fishes colours when its dark.
Its Going to be a schooling tank. Mostly Colourful Tetras, Danios and Rasboras

    Congo Tetra
    Cardinals
    Blue and Purple Emperor Tetras
    Serpae Tetra
    Neon endler Guppies
    Ansorge Neolebias
    Green neon Tetras
and so on . You get the idea. Lots of colour. no Plain colours.
Going to be hard to find nice stock.

From what I read this could be dangerous to you and your fish so be careful if you ever go that route. Hope im wrong tho cause I wanna go buy some if I am.

Look in the DIY section. I did a DIY LED moonlight once that cost around R150 to make. Hmmm... I think I should make it again...

Ok here's mine: 5ft tank, south-east asian plants/decor (not really sure what plants since I discovered blacklist...) with a happy crowd of clown loaches on the bottom and a nice family of moonlight gouramis up top!

Well there is this tank I have in mind its been sitting in my lounge empty for 3 months now. It's just over 390L and I'm thinking of putting a hole lot of plants in with a couple of discus and a corrie or 2 with a balloon dwarf ram and his mate to keep them all company, maybe some tetras and a pair of rainbows for a bit more colour.

I want a few very natural looking, biotope aquariums (saying that the rocks, wood, plants and fish should be from the same area.) Having a full ecosystem with fish and (BL stuff) working together like in nature. Big tanks so that the fish can also breed naturally.

I've been dreaming of a 3 to 5m long (open top?) tank that's 50cm high and about 75cm wide.
Flow going from one end to the other to create a river effect.
Lots of rockwork on one end making a bit of a rock pool with a small waterfall.
Heavily planted with Asian plants and mosses, and stocked with a variety of Asian fish. Some schools of loaches and a few large schools of micro rasboras and danios. And lots of different freshwater shrimp varieties to keep the tank clean and feed the loaches. This is a dream tank after all ;)

Then I'd have the entire thing built into a dark wood or black glass cabinet and install a number of solar tubes for completely natural lighting.
Ideally it would have a whole lot of LED panels above it allowing me to program in lighting patterns to simulate things like cloud cover, storms (including piping and sprayers to simulate rain), lightning, the moon, stuff like that. And it would all be computer controlled.

Like this thread....bit of fishy fantasy without the "cash" part complicating things....

Take one spare bedroom and gut it.... one third floorspace will be the aquarium part(@ least 10 000liters) backed by BIG waterfall(2meters +) - go jungle on the terrestrial parts....orchids,broms,ferns,epiphytes...
Fish you ask? (notice - will have to win the Powerball for this project) - breeding colony of Potomotrygon leopoldii with a HUGE school of Pink tailed Chalceus cruising over them.... 2 big(80cm + ) Pseododoras niger's cruising around anoying the Stingrays... And who said I only like/love South East Asian fish? ...lol

    Dream on Knowles,dream on......

@Singularity.....DARK SIDE,DARK SIDE!!!!! *Runs to his river tank and gives loaches a snack - starts breathing semi normally again when perceptual reality checks in at "normal" levels...*

But awesome none the less - guess something like that would be do able if I lived on the coast - synthetic seawater costs would KILL your bank balance for that sucker...he,he

Well, I have been made an "offer I can't refuse."
It went like this, "I've got a 500 liter tank with all accessories. I'll swop you for an acoustic guitar!"
Ahem! I have 15 guitars, I'm sure I could find a spare one to swop? OH WAIT! I found one YES!
Now, just to get this past the boss!!!

One of my tanks that I would like is a 4 ft full of otocinclus. It would be planted with some rock and nice pieces of drift wood. Nothing special but I would like it

hmmm difficult but i think a HUGE tank, that twist and turns through the house much like a river, waterfall on one end for the species that like high current and allow the current to taper off the further from the fall it gets. heavily planted with plenty of natural wood and rock and i like the idea of simulated lighting conditions. stocking would be big schools of galaxy rasboras and some of the smaller thread fins some hillstream loaches since i think they look really cool, some wild betta strains and of coarse some shrimp preferably cherries and blueberries. hmmm maybe some boesmani rainbows too, just for something abit bigger. corries and khulis as bottom feeders and i do mean corries as many different species as i could find. jup i think that would be mine, oh and full of ADA products too.

Oscar... that is absolutely stunning!!! Imagine this set up as a Discus Tank. THAT'S how I vision them in the wild. Not this crystal clear water we are so apt on giving.
