As I received the steel stand for my new 1200 liter tank, the work to build the new wood stand around the frame must start tomorrow before the glass tank is going to be delivered.
This is a proposed tank frame I am going to build.

@Stalker - just a suggestion - I would add more steel to that stand if I were you !!!
That tank is big and heavy, and I just checked my stand ( I have same size tank) I reckon you should add 4 more short pieces - 2 on each side - front to back of that stand. Those 3 pieces you've got, are too far apart to be safe in my opinion. What size tubing is that steel - mine is 40mm x 40mm and 400mm apart. Adding 4 short pieces of steel is not going to cost a lot of money, and you would have complete piece of mind that you have enough support. What thickness of styrofoam are you going to use on top of the steel?
Dunno - please ask the other guys on the forum their opinion - but I would be worried if that was my tank.

my 1000liter is on a 50mm sqaure tubing stand with cross bracing.
If it was me I would add vertical brace on back and front adding support in length and maybe diagonal bracing in middle of frame. an stand is always weaker in centre than on sides. also place a wooden base for tank to stand on with a minimum 3-5cm styrofoam between wood and tank. that will help with tank stability.

every spot on frame sould be level. check and double check.

    but thats my 2c.

As I work for a structural engineering company, I've asked a engineer to design a steel stand for me. The total weight of the tank, water and cabinet will be 1.5 ton. That isn't a light tank. The bottom glass on the tank is 36mm thick. I know I must set the stand up 100% level to prevent bad news.

Wow, I cant wait to see the final product. Keep posting pics.
Just a noob question, if the theoretical mass is going to be 1500kg, will the tiles you have the stand on
take the weight. You are spreading the load over 6 points (that's 250kg per point) I hope that the tiles will handle the load.

If the tiler thats done the tiles did a propper job, it will be okay, if not, then I'll have a problem. The base plates is 5x5cm and will help to distribute the load.

Wow... That's HUGE!! I know it's very difficult to gauge from a photograph, but the stand doesn't look as if it can withstand any side to side movement? It looks as if the slightest bump will send it toppling over?

    Gonna be spectacular though...

When they've delivered the tank I noticed thestand needs bracing to hold it straight. I will get the contractor that build the stand to come and put 6 more braces in. The previous tank I had a look at hat the same tipe of stand. The problem is that those tanks was only 800L big and this tank is a 1200L big. Now I must sort out the filter system and start with all the cleaning of the tank. It is a new tank but it was in storage at a petshop for almost 2 years. My giant gourami is going to enjoy her new tank.

Nice tank, but that stand, from what I can see, scares the hell out of me. It doesn't look like it is strong enough. Side movement on those legs.
