    Absolutely my favourite cichlid.

    I was lucky enough to land a small school of cyps the other day, (thanks Jack!).I have been wanting to do these tanganyikans for years. I had a closely related species, C.microlepidotus a few years ago, but these are my first leptosomas.

    Will other cyprichromis fans please post pics and video of your fish here!

    @Zuraki: let's get this party started!
    @Rowland: please please some pics!

    @lep2soma

    My lfs has received a shipment of these recently.
    But they are quite expensive. I think they are about £30 (approx R500) each

    Found a photo I had taken with my phone.
    They swim quite fast, so please excuse the poor quality.

    @Reedfish: thanks for that pic. they really move fast, i have a hundred or more pics taken since monday, none of them any good!

    they are not common in the hobby, probably because of the outrageous prices!

    @lep2soma,

    Yup, and I have read they are best kept in groups of at least 10.
    Apparently in the Lake they form massive shoals.

    that's why I took as many as I could afford, cyps are the only TRUE schooling cichlid that I know of. In the lake shoals can number over 10 000 individuals!
    So you could never have enough of them!

    Exactly!
    They school for life.
    Other cichlids, like tilapia, only school when they are very young.
