Just to throw in my 2c worth on an old thread.

I owned a cross St Bernard/Labrador and a Border Collie, both used to be fed Alpo for cost reasons.
Then I decided to try Ultra Dog and what a change. They had more energy, coats looked better and most of all their waste didn't smell as much and was harder (easier to pick up)

I now still own the border collie (RIP Beethoven) and he is joined by a Jack Russel/brak cross and a monstrous St Bernard.
The St is a pure bread and I started him on Ultra Dog but it affected his tummy so I switched to Royal Canin for Giant Breeds.
It only took a day or two and his tummy was right again.

So although it is more expensive @ R550 / 15Kg bag compared to Ultra Dog @ R450 / 20Kg bag (the last time i bought) it has done wonders for my dogs.

In the end it is like most other things, the more you pay the better the product should be. But you have to try it to see the results for yourself.
Trying to feed 9 dogs is an expensive task but they will love you for giving them the best food you can.

Just on another note, when my Saint gets a runny tummy he spends a week being fed boiled chicken, rice and scrambled egg. That becomes very costly as he is a 75Kg monster who eats plenty.

Jock is excellent, we have had our Boerboel on it from 6 months and he looks amazing.

    Cost

We fed Tank Eukanuba from 8 weeks till 6months to give him a good start.

    My dogs prefer Dogsence Basic.
They finish the portions before the doves have a go at it!

sorry bud but mines all boerboel, after doing some major research, they were an orginal color that seemd to have faded away over time, at the time i was looking for a brindle one, i was on contact with some of the better breeders up north they had two black pups and want something like 1500 US if i remember correctly, then i found my one at a breeder down in the cape, she was one of two in the litter the other was a male thier parents were blonde but two generations back their was brindle dogs on both sides (mother and father) from my research into black beorboels it seem you must have a dark colored parents.

the comment was kinda a kick in the teeth but no harm done

attached is a pic of Roxy, she doesnt have ANY features of neopolian mastiffs. i love this breed and i love my dogs esp in this color there are huge divides in the breeding community about this color.
