Hi all
Last week i picked up two dwarf gourami's - the pet store owner didn't have any females, but insisted that the males would be fine together.
It's taken some time to settle them in, but after a water change and some stresscoat, the one seems to be settling in and getting quite full of himself.

The other one, however, seems a little more timid, and keeps getting chased into a dark corner by the first one.

I'm concerned that the timid one will always be stuck in the corner - do you think it's possible that over time they will learn to live with each other? What is the general nature of these gourami's - I thought they were supposed to be easy-going?

Any advice?

Hi M - There will always be a dominant one - They will eventually settle but the timid one will always be chased around - remember it's normal so no reason to worry, just give the timid one somewhere to hide and find some females

Hi there..
Thanks:smile1: Remarkably, they have both been swimming around a lot more today and apart from a few spats, they seem ok now.

With regards to the females, is it possible that the males might fight more if I introduce any ladies to the tank?

The good water change and cleaning of your filter is all you needed.... your fish should settle in nicely.

If you introduce a few ladies they will scrap for a little bit then settle down nicely
