View Full Version : Water Change
Hi:idea:
Ive got a question, most probably a stupid one, but here it goes.
Water Changes, how do i do it the easiest way.
How do you currently do it Brydon? Just to avoid us all retyping things you are already doing..:)
no question is a stupid question :blink1:
yes, please tell us what you currently do and then we can advise you accordingly...
PS: nice avatar!
just changing about 25% of water every 2 weeks.
Thanks Dolphin,
Just got it of the internet.
Don't do water changes....it sux :)
25% is normally the recommendation per week, not per fortnight. That is of course, std practice/best practice, but I know quite a few people who don't really do water changes often (or sometimes, not at all) because of their tank water being nicely balanced & healthy.

I think he's talking about the actual way of doing a water change as apposed to the amount!?
I just use a 10mm tube and a 50L drum, take some time but it does the job with relatively no mess!
Quite right mongs....he was actually asking what's the easiest way :)
Well I still do it the old fashion way (siphoning tube + bucket + carrying water around etc etc).
And how often do you clean the gravel and rock etc,
And how
Buy yourself a gravel vac....your LFS will know what to give you. That's your vacuum cleaner for the aquatic world....pretty easy to use too.
Cleaning of the 'gravel' should be part of your water changes. Rocks...only clean them if you must.
Whats the price of a gravel vac
Whats the price of a gravel vac
Depending on the size and make anything from around R25 to R125. A very worthwhile investment :)
Thanks alot. will be buying one soon

Yup, a gravel vac is a must! I usually vacuum my gravel around once a month!
Do you vacuum all of the gravel or just in portions of it.
Brydon, the best is to vacuum as much as possible
