Ashi - Nothing to worry about - Parrots exibit this behaviour during periods of stress - Parrot's are manmade fish and their genetics is derived from a few diferent cichlid species... the orangy red colour they normally have overlies darker pigments.... During periods of stress the chromatophores of the darker colour come foth as a "stress respose" - fish should go back to it's normal colour once settled into it's new tank

azurekoi can this not also be cancer?

Nope HennieRoux - it is a stress response... Used to import lotsa parrot fingerlings in the past and this is prevalent in about two thirds of them... 24 to 36 hours in their new tanks and they black fades away again...

Anyway - "cancer" wont become visible(not that it is in fish - usually internal and very rare in my experience) overnight after a move from one tank to the other...

Yes the moving part makes sense...I have read and seen some articles where fish was diagnosed with cancer, and it appeared with black marks on their body, so it was the first thing that came to my mind.

This is not an African cichlid post! Where are the guys that should ensure a post is where it belongs? Henk this is the second post I have pointed out on being where it should not be!
