Today I saw a light purple halfmoon betta in a petshop.
When I look closer I saw that he was very unreactive and when I touch the glass he would only stared at me. He only come up for a gulp of air and there where a king of fungus growing on his body.
When I aks about him they told me that he did become sick on arrival.
So I did not bough him because I don`t want him to infect my other healthy fish
It looks to me the halfmoon betts are more prone to diseases than the other tail types.
Could it be so?

i dont think so, what was the conditions in his tank/cup/bowl? besides having to make sure theres nothing in the tank that will catch his fins or tear them they are about the same to other bettas from what i've heard. dont forget that shipping is stressful and if he was kept for to long in customs it could have stressed him out more which means a lower immunity. i hope they where treating him, purple is quite rare.
Absolutely shocked to hear this. There is no difference in the various Bettas we can buy when it comes to health and disease problems. I would say the moment fish in that condition arrive in a shop they should immediately be given a quarenteening treatment. I have a system, holds about 16-18 bettas, with a common filter system and very seldom experience problems. Will even add in a sick looking fish plus medication and some salt and I don't loose my fish that are already in their holding sections. I will be buying some Half moons this week and can assure you there will be no losses. It is also the importers responsibilty to make sure they do not move fish that are not healthy.

He was in a little betta tank.
When I aks about him they said that they had him in a qt tank for about 2 weeks.
He was healthy but then he did became sick.
I think that they will treat him.
I wish that he was`t sick. I love he`s colour.

He probably got sick from being kept in poor water conditions.
Why don't you ask the pet shop to treat him, and if he is ok in a week or so, go back and get him?

Where do you buy your half moons from? I saw 1 yesterday at panorama but the price was R75! and that was a sickly looking specimen.

I have 2 males I bought from them.
One male was in a smal betta tank and because he was very reactive I bought him.
The other one was in a main tank.
