This is Ari waiting for his daily brekkie ,crickets spider and wasp
the tank is only lit by natural sunlight so is full of algae on sides and bottom,
but since having it in the sunlight he has grown to about 45 50 cm and looks healthier than ever.
So I resist the urge to clean the tank and just keep up with the water changes..

he really is beautiful, what else do you feed him and i dont know about jardinis are they also prone to drop eye like silver arowana because yours looks perfect?

AS far as I know the australian & asian arowanas do get drop eye but mabe only 1 in every 1000
Where the slivers are a lot more prone to drop eye due to over breeding perhaps .I believe it is all genetic and have never personly seen a silver arowana over 30cm without drop eye
I have never covered my Jardinis tank once he was over 20cm and have never givin him sinking food His diet currently consists of a large box of crickets (100) or so wich i FEED fresh veg and fruit for a week first.
mabe 10 or so neons , guppies or bettas a week .Any spider wasp or bug that is catchable in or around the house and a pinky or two once a month
.He no longer eats hikari sticks ,hake .beefheart or any thing else.So i try to keep his diet as close to nature as possible and will on somedays give only 1 or 2 crikets and on other days a lot keeping it random as possible so he is always patroling the tank just below the surface looking for a snack .when my wifes maine coon kitten sat on the glass brace the aro would try and catch the cats tail or paws and has already pulled him in once , need less to say the cat no longer sits there and i was in k$^%$ for weeks

so jardinis arent jumpers like silvers?i tried to only feed food that floated, never fed feeder fish in the hopes of staving off drop eye(no luck).

nah all arowana are jumpers just not masters like the silver arowana. you will here a splash every now and then from the jardini but nothing hectic.
try lottsa of veery small ckickets .the arowana has to keep eyes up to get em and they are good swimmers so the aro must work to get them ?

laziness and time are the only two factors at this point. I think today is the first free day ive had in months. but it has to be done before december
as ill be in thailand for over a month and wanna bring a fishie home that will have to go in the current tank while its still small.
