View Full Version : Black Baloon Mollies not breeding
I bought 2 black mollies in January this year 1 male and 1 female. the female gave birth in March. But I read that they can every 60 to 70 days. Well it is now more than 2 1/2 months and still no baby's. What can this be. Can a male be sterile? Must I get another female/male? Raise the temp or ?
I know that they say you should get 2 females for every male. But can it be the problem.
They live in a 270 liter community tank, temp at about 27 c.
ok I will take some photos and post it tomorrow.
Mollies actually survive better, and breed better, if kept in slightly brackish water. Try adding some aquarium salt if their tank mates will stand the addition of salt. They CAN survive in freshwater but not optimally. They prefer bushy plants, plenty of swimming room, warmer hard water and some of their own kind. It is best to have a couple of females per male, as the males continually harass the females in order to breed.
