What system are you planing to add these plant/plants too?High light, low light ,Co2,Non Co2,substrate?

I've only had experience with L.brevipes and only with high light and Co2 injection. It grows fast and very dense. The leaves can turn pinkish-red under certain conditions. It is a stem plant and can be trimmed and the tops can be re-planted.

i'll be using excel and am toying with the idea of asking my cuz in Aus to ship some ADA aquasoil, lucky bugger gets it there hehe ( yeah i know its gna cost me a small fortune but i wana do this properly). faily high light, i'm looking at a unit from Petstop that i think uses two T5's. oh and i wana add one more plant Nymphaea micrantha its a mini waterlilly.

Just be carefull with different water Lillies... Alot of the Nymphaea species are black listed... Not sure if that one is, but have a look.

Secondly, what height and size is the aquarium? That depend on the amount of light and the type of light you will need. Those T5 units are great. They have good reflectors, and with the correct bulb combination, you can do some great things with plants.

The Ludwigia will grow well, but as with most stem plants, the use of Pressurized Co2, will be good for the long run. The Echinodorus quadricostatus grows nicely, but you will need a Iron suppliment for the roots.

its one of the competition tanks for next year, i'm trying new plants in my scape. uhm now the dimensions are 50cm x 42 x 34cm i think i do stand to be corrected though hehe. il take a look @ slagter it was a possibility but not sure if i'm going to use it now that i've got the whole design worked out on paper. i'd like to use this guy as a background plant i like the euphyll shape and colour, Lindernia rotundifolia. i am also leaning toward Echinodorus quadricostatus
as well provided it doesnt get too big for the area i have in mind. my other background plant will be ludwigia aruata i loves the red leaves

thanks @mattie (http://www.tropicalaquarium.co.za/member.php?u=900) but i actually have a supplier for the plants mentioned in the first post its just a case of trying to choose which ones i will be using and whether or not they will fit into the tank and scape i've designed. oh and whether or not Excel will be enough CO2 or if i gota look for something more suitable.

ok so i may be tempted by the Crinum calamistratum, only thing would be where to put it till i'm ready to start on the new tank. lol

Personally, I would say go with the Co2. In the long run it will save the cost of having to always buy Excell. Excell is a good product though. I used it, I probably still will use it. But pressurized Co2 is the way to go, if you are looking at stem plants.

thanks slagter i'll definately be looking at a system, i saw what looked like a starter CO2 kit by i think tetra which had a cylinder, piping, bubble counter and so on at a dinky lil petstore in edenvale, i'll go have a squizz again at some point maybe on sat and price. i've spoken to my cousin in Aus and he's going to look into shipping me some aquasoil. bankrupcy here i come lol. i'm going to have to start planning my stand so that when the soil arrives i can start immediately with scaping and getting my plants in.
