Any suggestions on plants for discus tank. I find that my plants do not grow well in my display tank and my wife wants more plants. The majority of LFS have plants in cold (unheated) water, even the Amazon Swords, while my tanks are at about 29 degrees C.

If I can remember correctly, you have coarse silica gravel for your substrate in your main tank, correct? If so, it could also be one of the reasons why your plants aren't really growing nicely. I have a tank that has the mid-substrate layer that consists of this gravel and the plants are not flourishing at all...some of them has even died.

In my experience, fine silica sand (pool filter sand) is still the best substrate to use for aquatic plant development/growth. Might be a mission to redo that substrate of yours Gerry, but will be well worth it. If you plan on switching substrates, I will come and help you to do it.

Temperature is another thing...some aquatic plants will not survive in such high temperatures

I have had no problems with Sagitteria subulata, Echinodorus parviflorus, E.major. E. tenellus, E schlueteri, Didiplis diandra, Cryptocoryne parva, C. wenditii (brown), and C. beckettii, Ammania senegalensis, Hygrophilia polysperma ( weiss-grun or rosenvrig), H. difformis, H. angustifolia, Eichhornia diversifolia, Rotala roundifolia and R. wallichi and Vallis... amongst others.

I agree with the other two, unless its a highly specialized plant (which in SA is unlikely) Its probably got more to do with the lighting, ferts and substrate... but if you are worried why not drop the temp to 27' my discus do fine at this and it leaves room to increase the temp if they do fall sick.

just my 2c...

ps. those are some nice plants City bowl!!!
