The better question is where is this goby now :)

Looks closely related to a stiphondon. Very difficult to ID them because they can change colour greatly.
My nearest and this is only a guess would be close to a lipstick goby

@Naomi - Its a Ghost or Barecheek Goby - Apocryptes bato.... Nice find!!! never kept them.. generally needs Brackish(on the low side - 1.005Sg) conditions... Aparently very easy to keep - comes from India

Aaahh that makes sense..... as they had some night gobies aswell!
Vis saw them at a shop in Boksburg - they where about 6-7cm

Thanx azurekoi for the input:wink:

They're brackish but can be quite tolerant of fresh water provided you present the correct conditions - hard, alkaline water in this case.

Thanx Tim - Yes...you can keep them in "fresh" water up here on the Highveldt due to our hard water....not so in the Cape - would do much better in a Brackish system there...

Hmmnn... this is a Apocryptes Genus goby though... A.bato has a huge distribution from Madagascar to Japan - could be a colour variant, but still think thais one is A.bato... here is the old problem of Common names on dealers tanks popping up again...lol
