Arnold789 - it looks like a Stringray filter... am I assuming correctly Hein? I've always wondered on their effectiveness.

Anyways, the tank is looking good :) All these awesome nanos around make me want to start one up myself!

Yes, @SalmaonAfrica its called the Elite Stingray filter. Its really practical, it mostly has open cell sponges. This one filters 90 l/h bit over kill for a nano but I must admit I never regret buying it. You guys will see some of the pics the water seem brownish yellow, to tell you the true story, there was PFP in the tank at first when I started it. When I started to fill it up the flow was too strong, I then had to remove all the PFP as it was everywhere. Needless to say I removed most of it. The remainder got stuck in the filter and I did some WC and got the water clear with this filter.

@Vez (http://www.tropicalaquarium.co.za/member.php?u=1500) and @SalmonAfrica (http://www.tropicalaquarium.co.za/member.php?u=107) thank you very much, the tank has a long way to go, I was trying to go for a natural look. Like a riverbed

I love it hein! how are the panda cories doing on that gravel?

they are doing great, I mixed the gravel with PFS so its not entirely too ruff for them. I placed them in the nano because I am fetching my Big tank at month end and then they will have a great new home.. I had a good chuckle this morning the 4 of them were schooling.:cheesy:

They are nice neat little filters. And yet... I agree with you.. a tad bit overkill.... but looks good!

So due to the fact that I sold most of my tanks I had to make a plan with my plants to reserve them for my 250l. So into the nano all the plants went. I also replaced the substrate with Fluorite and replaced the Elite filter with a corner box filter as I thought I will breed my Red Zebra Danios in the mean time whilst the tank is so planted:

Update:

Okay so this tank lost all the plants and was a fry tank for the past couple of months. Currently there are some Dwarf Neon Rainbow fish in the tank with only Flourite. So this weekend I will be giving this tank a complete revamp and plant some few plants I propegated out of the big tank.

Plant list will be as follows:

HM
Stargrass
Vallis
Rotala Rotundifolia
Tenellus
Flame moss
Java moss

I always loved a tank with only just endlers in it, so I think the endlers will be evicted out of the big tank and into this nano. I am going to also try and fix up my other canister filter and run that as filtration. If I do not succeed in the repair then the Elite filter will be the next best thing.

I will also be upgrading the lights as I have yellowish globes in right now, these will be replaced by 2x 20w phillips tornado's which brings it to 1 wp/l. I am also working on reflecters and also making glass sliders between the canopy and the tank. The reason for the sliders will be because of the moist and evaparation makes the globes pop the whole time so I am hoping that this will solve the problem. I initially wanted to enter this tank for the comp but unfortunetely we had the move going on but I will still get a thril out of this.

hein24, the tank looks awesome it's just a pity that you lost all the plants. I've had to put all my plants into my 3ft in the hopes that everything will survive. This would have made an awesome entry into the competition... What a Pity! Please post some pics of your big tank and your Endlers too... I look forward to seeing the new scape in this tank. Do you have any Dwarf Neon Rainbows for sale yet, I've been looking for some small ones as a companion for my little dude, and my lfs only has the larger version...

Good luck hein24,

Keep us posted.

Those Endlers are awesome.

Hope you are planning some CO2 for this tank also.

I am in the process of trying to rescue some twisted/cork screw valis.

If they make it then maybe we should put some of it in this tank of yours too. Would look nice.
