View Full Version : Sold as Tetra Shark
I have looked for a tetra shark but cannot find. It has a upward pointing mouth like a top feeder, it is a very big mouth indeed. They stay in the upper 1/4 of the tank.Next to the mouth it has 2 very thin feelers.
Any ideas?

That's an Apollo Shark, most likely Luciosoma setigerum. It's a cyprinid and also on the South African freshwater blacklist. They grow to about 30cm though their growth slows down at about 20cm. Will eat smaller fish.
Thank you..... I guess they will become fishfood then.

looks like a predator too, from that pic, wide open mouth seems perfect for catching and eating live food..
Yeah it eats insects..... my butterfly fish has to share crickets .
