View Full Version : Zebra snails for planted tank
Hi
I don't know if I am pasting this in the right forum area, but I am looking for Neritina sp. zebra snail. Who has them? Where can I get them? I've not seen them at LFS in PE...
Regards
Lauré
Wish I could find some too...they are stunning and plant friendly. They are gr8 algae chompers too.
If you should find some Laure, please let me know as well....I'm dying for some of them.
Cheers

They are really cool looking snails, would not mind getting my hands on a few of them. Do golden apple snails eat plants?

Apple snails chomp certain plants, not all. Personally, I don't like 'em for this very reason but I wouldn't mind keeping them in a tank that I'm not too fussy about
We started with 4 apple snails, and currently have about 200... LOL. They breed like crazy, and most plants don't survive. We're giving them cucumber, gem squash and zuchinis, but they still prefer the plants. Have set up a seperate tank for all the babies, just to get them out of our main tanks. Would also love to hear more about the zebra snails please.
Could someone post a link to a photo of a Zebra Snail? I'd like to see what they look like

Just type zebra snail in google and select image search and it will come up with millions
The info in the link you provided is incorrect. Have a look at the following links.

These snails are indigenous to South Africa and an olive variety is found in Florida. We use to see these quite frequently in the hobby, but I believe there was a restriction but on the harvest of these snails. They are still exported seasonally, though.
I use to have a few some ten years ago. Very beautiful snails, but a pain to remove their eggs from the glass and decor. I’ve also on many occasions found them traveling across the floor.
