View Full Version : So... My kettle broke
Well after rushing off to buy a new kettle, the old one ended up on top of my tool cabinet.
This is what happened to it!

First remove the electrics

thread the air hose and led light through

and allow your wife to giggle...

By the way... In case you ever consider giving up coffee, let me explain the process…. You begin by sitting motionlessly in a desk chair…. Then you just keep doing that forever because life has no meaning!
LOL, very entertaining. Does this qualify as a kettle of fish?
Now put the fish back in the tank :)

Nice...now put the fishy bank in his tank. Thats way too small for him :(
Awesome looking Kettle Bowl :) :) ... a couple of neons or a betta would be better.
a betta would be better.
** A betta would be betta
Correction made!
Haha sorry i couldnt help it!
and wow thats an awesome idea :D I want to do it too!
shame, poor betta! I wouldnt do it
Put a siamese fighter in it, they don't require a lot of space.

Dude this is so wrong! This is a common misconception. It will survive but not thrive.
Put a siamese fighter in it
AKA 'Betta' Splendens
Sorry for the misleading, I withdraw that statement!!!
A couple of white clouds would do well in there! Wicked idea. Nice execution too.
Well atleast WC will be a breeze hahahaha
Maybe use as a Fry grow out tank, hehe

It's a neat little idea, but is there a filter? Otherwise, no offense, but in that case I see it as little more than an attractive (modernly stylish) fish carrier. :)
SalmonAfrica,
no it don't make filter coffee :) hehehe
Sorry had too...
Hello everyone. The idea to do this came while I was waiting for a guitar to dry after re-spraying it. (The kettle was on top of my tool cabinet.) The fish was only in the kettle for the photo and is happily residing in my outdoor tropical tank. Yes, the kettle has a filter, it's hidden inside the castle. NO... I won't be putting anything in without first making sure that it'll be happy. It holds 2L of water, so anything that can't be happy in 2L of water will not be going in there! I will more than likely put in one or two tiny shrimp if they're legal yet!

That's awesome, but does it have a heater? :p
If it's kept in a warmish area you might get away without a heater and put 3 or 4 Endler guppies in there???
HI everyone. No - Haven't found a small enough heater yet. As I'm working with a 5v/DC power source, I may end up piping water in and out via the big tropical tank in the lounge. That way, I know the water will be at the correct temp and not be subject to any wild variations. The only hurdle will be figuring how to route the send and return hoses along with the air hose and light cable, while keeping them all small, functional and neat!
That just gave me an awesome idea... Imagine if you built a glass stand roughly 160x60x60cm sealed watertight on all sides but the top, put in a base at 60cm from the top with a 10cm gap for pipes/cables/etc below it and painted/covered everything below that. Then, the "stand" would be a huge 100x60x60cm upright sump/trickle filter for the 60cm cube tank on top! The sheer size will enable you to place ALL extras in the filter, with only entry and exit pipes in the actual tank on top. Filling the top tank to the brim (see Fluval Edge) with some decent lighting would perfect it...
Sorry, sudden inspiration attack...

Heating cables employed by the Reptile guys has always done the trick for me...They keep the temp of small bodies of water pretty stable round 24 degrees... Barry.M - shoulda shown you when you where here this morning...duh - waterchanges kept me busy...
Hi Azurekoi, Drikus showed me the heating cables this morning. Unfortunately, I'm limited to a 5 volt power source... So have to come up with a different idea for heating, as I don't want mains voltage near this.

Barry.M....he,he. Dont think in the box - think beneath the box... you can run it off normal 220 and just place it coiled beneath the kettle... Gentle, stable upwelling of heat...QED.
