Hello,

I got this ram from the lps like this and only realised at home, what is wrong with his tail? I know its not ick, as its almost like his tail is damaged? is this something to worry about? its not getting any better, should I be treating it somehow?

Thanks,
Candice

Looks like Lymphocystis to me Candice...its a viral disease causing white nodules on your fish, usualy the fins... as its a virus,it is untreatable...but the good news is that given good care, most fish get over it in time...

Unfortunately,it can be transferred to your other fish....remove the ram t oa seperate aquarium till he heals up(this can take a good few months though)....

I think you are right, I have had brillant success in the past with Bio-Elite when I had an ick problem, so I have decided to treat the whole tank with the Bio-Elite 'heal all' treatment, which is for bacterial, viral and fungal infections and on the plus side it also boosts immune system and increases cellular repair. Started the treatment today, and its a 7 day treatment, lets hope it works :)

Thanks for the help,
Candice

Hey Aqua,

You all do not know me very well, but have been lurking on this forum for a while now.
Right, not about me, but the ram,
Rams are very sensitve little fish, once they start to develop some kind of illness, there isn't much luck with them.
All I can recomend, have a look, and then a close look again before you buy any fish.

Regards
