As all that was on here a while back know, I just wrote some exams through UNISA.

One course was NEGOTIATIONS, and I suppose that it is no great surprise to anybody that e-mail and internet is listed as one of the best "tools" in negotiations in modern times. But I was surprised to find that e-mails(implying forum posts as well) is also mentioned as the greatest hindrance in effective communication. Reason being that a person tends to reply your first emotions on e-mail, there is not the same though process as with face to face communication, no consideration for feeling, decency or the opportunity to enquire before responding. This is such a common phenomenon that it is mentioned in an academic text book. The author suggests that the moment you read a post(mail) that you do not agree with or that you think is offending you in any manner, type your immediate response, but don’t send, then get up from the computer, go make coffee, have a smoke (or even better go sit in front of your tank and plan your next addition). Then when you have calmed down, come back to the computer; delete your post and re type a civilized response. As with everything treat and respect other people as you would like to be treated and respected yourself.

This is very true. More people should treat others as they would want others to treat them.
