Hello,

So Ive got Hydra in my 45L Gardneri breeding aquarium, which is weird because I keep it spotless, never overfeed and never introduce foreign matter. Its got a mature sponge filter which has some Hydra on, which Im hoping doesnt need to be boiled to get rid of the Hydra. I read a post from azurekoi that said you can use a 9v and wires. How far must the wires be apart and how deep in the water? Will the fish and their eggs be effected by the copper compounds from the wire? Im hoping that this will solve the problem without killing my filter bacteria.

Thanks,
Mitchell

You putting your tank on "the green mile"?

Are you feeding live foods such as BBS? Hydra is usually found in excellent water conditions but it does also usually indicate overfeeding. Trick I learnt from Marco...Use a toothbrush with a air line attatched to it and scrub away the hydra while syphoning off some water. This will suck up most of the hydra dislodged through scrubbing. No fiddling with anything weird in your tank, no chemicals and more water changes in your tank = PURE WIN.

Hope this helps

Hydra...simple! Conect two wires to the poles of a 9V battery - place ends of wire at oppositeends of aquarium and let current run throughaquarium for half an hour or so.... your fish arnt "earthed" by being in the water column,so no problems there... Works a charm....

Thanks guys, Ill try both ideas. I do feed BBS but only small amounts that the fish can eat in under a minute, I guess the hydra still gets some though.
