Hi guys and gals...

I have a 900 X 45 X 45 cm Tropical tank tank setup...I house Gouarmis, various Tetra, Corys, Mollies and Bala Sharks and some artificial plants and deco...I run 1 submersible pump(Dolphin 2000) and 1 overhead(Dolphin ?!?!?) I had a case of Dropsy/NTD and lost a few fish, treated the problem with Waterlife Myxazin as per LFS...Seemed to reduce problem but not entirely as I can see a few fish still affected by some form of parasite, internally cos they are very healthy looking but for the Neon Tetra, their gills appear red...I was wondering if flushing them is the best resolve??? :-(

Neons are a tetra that are well known for deformities, whether due to poor quality, or being line bred too much, and one such deformity is that the gill covers are often missing. I suspect that this is the case here? Usually these fish will die off on their own, but they pose no issues unless you intend breeding them.

Never ever ever flush live fish down the toilet! The fish in most cases do not die in the loo, and so are flushed into our water systems, which can result in disease being spread throughout our water networks, for the fish in SA to catch, and thats not even getting into the live fishes impact either! Granted a neon may not seem to have much of an impact, and will probably die from shock, but its a good principal to follow! Dispose of fish in the bin. Much safer.

G!
