Hi Everyone,

I am in the process of refurbishing and redoing my tanks.

I would like some suggestions for my 1.2m standard size tank. I have 1 silver dollar and 1 rainbow shark I would like to keep. Possibly add my pleco and 3 corys from another tank. Also a few Swordtails I have (I think the swords will be okay with the dollars - but would love to hear from others)

I was thinking along the lines of adding in 2\3 more silver dollars, 2 honey\golden gouramis or 2 angels and maybe a blue dwarf gourami.

All suggestion are welcome I am looking for something with a good colour mix and active fish that are fun to watch.

Thanks,

Big G

The suggestions you have their would result in this tank being drastically overstocked.

If you are that set on Silver Dollars (SD's), then just go for those. They need to be in a group of at least 6 really, but the other issue I see here is the tank size.... SD's need a good deal of space to swim in, and ideally should be kept in a minimum 1.5m tank.

A 1.2m is really even a little too small for a group of Angels, which again need to be kept in a group of 6 minimum (unless they have paired off), but can just about be kept in these conditions with regular water changes.

Most Gouramis can be kept happily in such a tank, but I would not mix them with Angels or SD's. I would think thats asking for trouble? Also, I believe that Honey Gourami's are a bit fussy, and can be difficult to acclimatise and keep.

Sorry its not good news, but just want to help make sure you don't run into any serious issues that takes the wind out of your sails!

Regards
G!
