Hi Rooivlerkie

My fishbook says:

The method for breeding is similar to the other labyrinth fish; the male builds a bubble nest and cares for the eggs.

/search labyrinth .....

Got it :

A mature pair in peak condition can be encouraged to breed in a separate breeding tank with a very low water level and plenty of floating plants (crystalwort)
Gradually increase the temperature to 29C and ensure that the water is soft (4-8 gH)
The male builds a bubble nest under the surface, usually with the hlep of fragments (floating) plants
After entwining :), during which the female releases the eggs and they are fertilized by the male, the male picks up the eggs from the bottom and spits them into the bubble nest.
The male tends the eggs and will no longer allow the female anywhere near him. You should therefore catch her immediately after spawning to prevent the male from injuring or
even chasing her to death. It is time to remove the male as well when the fish hatch because at this stage he will begin to see them as food himself.
The fry can be raised on fine powdered food (sera micron) and tiny live food organisms. The small breeding tank should not be aerated. Filtration is unnecessary and may damage
the bubble nest. Siphon up dirt and excrement from the bottom now and then to keep the water clean.

Again this is from a book: The Complete Encyclopedia of Fish by Erna Verhoef, 2009 Edition.
