View Full Version : Lecture Series
HI all
Would anybody be interested in a series of posts on how specific equipment works and the pro's and con's thereof ???
I would happily start with :
Heaters and how they work
Sumps and how they work
The Nitrogen Cycle and what is it
Airlifts and how they work ?
pH and the control thereof ( and why it's not recommended to control it :) )
by all means go ahead, i think we can benefit from something like this.

Please Gavin.
Go straight ahead. Newbies can then get a lot of answers that way.
Why not make it like a library?

Great idea...! it should be a mandatory newbie thread.
Something i would have definitely benefited from when i first set up my aquarium.
Would be even better as a video tutorial/lecture... Youtube video embedded into the post maybe?

That would be great, looking forward to it :)
I did a "Keeping fish for beginners" manual. I went over the basics according to Zoom's experience along with the help of this formum... and NOT what my "friendly" LPS recommended.
I did it in a logical sequence, starting from when you first decide to buy fish, through tank size, types of set up, how to set up, nitrate cycle, cycling, introducing fish, through to maintenance.
I've sent it through to Rory for his "perusal" (A big word I learnt this week.. heehee) and he said he might post it as an article on TASA.
Just wish I had something like that, or knew about this forum before starting... would've save huge headaches
And we all sitting here waiting patiently for the lecture to begin.... Please switch off all cellphones

I was there last night, and he said, "Can't talk, better get these tanks cleaned before Vee wakes up"
He was sweating.... :p

Now that is not fair - I was suffering from a MAJOR migraine! Ask everyone else who is busy cleaning the tanks when they come around....come on Dale, I need your support now!!!!!!! They ganging up on me!!! HHHHEEEELLLLPPPP
have to come to Vee's defence - My jobs are wiring the lights, moving the heavy stuff, piping the air and water, welding new stands etc. Yesterday was water changes and tank cleans, cause of the headache.
