Hi Rory,

Just a note, don't know if it should be like that but the left frame on the home page is very wide. Ignore my post if you are still working on it.

Rory just wondering the vb ur upgrading is asp. net in the language visual basic?

Rory
21-04-2011, 22:09
Nope. vB is vBulletin, the forum software. It runs on PHP.

I'm using IE 8 I think, and Inhave the same problem! Not just the left column being very wide, but the 'most recent posts' column is very thin, and it all doesn't fit my screen... I have a scroll bar!

Its ok once I go into threads though! So Far!!

Hmmm... Now the width scroll bar has gone, and it fits the width of my screen, but the columns ares still squif!

TomK
22-04-2011, 10:54
The time 'gogga' is still there, it is now 10h53, but the board report 10h04.

Tom.K Few differences I have noticed is search from adress bar and tabs next to address and tools so lots more space for page to open up in. Where do you see the boards time.

search from adress bar and tabs next to address and tools

You talking IE9? I was refering to the forum.

Forum(Board) time is at the bottom of each screen, and on the homepage where you see the new posts. See the time that the posts is made.

Just upgraded vBA CMPS (for the homepage) from 4.0.1 to 4.1.0 and taptalk from 2.1.6 and 3.0.1.
Homepage still wonky on IE8 though...

I would not worry about it. People on IE8 can easily go to 9. I noticed other web sites also look a lot better on 9. So for us die hards on IE8, here is a good reason to go to 9. It is easy and free! (Free for those with a legal windows that is. Happy crack hunting for those that is not legal!)

Rory
23-04-2011, 09:24
IE8 still in use a lot. guess im going to have to fiddle with the theme.

tapatalk on bb really really sucks!

TomK
23-04-2011, 09:27
oh well, good luck then.

Are people still using IE???

Rory
23-04-2011, 12:28
Zoom I at least managed to download taptalk for bb, find TASA and make a post. It doesn't remember your forums or anything though, and can't do anything except check the "forums" page and find a thread manually, and post. ie. It's unusable. One of the things in this new version of vB is setting a mobile style better than plugins have done so in the past. Just need to set that up sometime.

Rory
23-04-2011, 22:45
Clicking on the "compatibility view" icon next to the address in IE8 sorts it all out.

Big G
23-04-2011, 22:49
Cheers Rory! That seems to have sorted it!? Let you know if theres any more issues?

G!

Henk Hugo
24-04-2011, 07:33
Rors - what about getting the front page to show in which forum the post is ala MASA style. That way it will prevent users from posting in sponsors forum etc

Rory
24-04-2011, 08:13
Done, but I doubt it will help with that issue much.

TomK
24-04-2011, 08:33
I noticed it immediately. Like it.

I did not know we are not supposed to post in sponsor forums. Surely that can be sorted with permissions?

Henk Hugo
24-04-2011, 08:34
Let's see - perhaps they notice that it is in a sponsors forum section and have some netiquette. I have made myself guilty of this after i didnt notice the question was in another sponsors section.

TomK
24-04-2011, 08:39
Well, I do not see the nitiquette. It seems like the sponsor forum is there as a place to speak to that sponsor?

Big G
24-04-2011, 08:41
Tom.K... I think the point is not to reply with.... 'I saw 20 Cories at blah blah LFS the other day'.

Its not a problem to post in the sponsors forum if you are looking for something, but obviously not so good to reply with the above when the sponsors should be the ones replying.

Hope that makes sense?

Regards
G!

TomK
24-04-2011, 08:44
Hope that makes sense?

Absolutely! I did not see that. OK, I saw the posts, but did not see the forum where it was posted. So yes, it should help to prevent that.

Big G
24-04-2011, 08:44
Just one observation Rory....

The members online list on the left, no longer has commas seperating each members names, so its no hard to distinguish each members name seperately?

Anything you can do about this??

Cheers
G!

TomK
24-04-2011, 08:47

Strange, mine does. Unless Rory fixed it already!

Rory
24-04-2011, 08:51
Mine does too, get your eyes checked? Or wake up, *then* TASA :p

Rory

Thread tools (at the top), Unsubscribe from thread. Pretty sure that's the same as before.

Big G
24-04-2011, 09:05
Definately no Commas! Could this be something to do with compatability view in IE8?

G!

TomK
24-04-2011, 09:07
compatability view in IE8?

Must be. Why do you not upgrade to IE9? What version of Windoze do you run?

OK. Stopped laughing. Try F5 or Ctrl+F5 to get a fresh page. Can not see why it will be different on your side? Anything else strange?

Big G
24-04-2011, 10:34
Nope, no help~! As far as I know everything else is ok, but I don't know what you're seeing to compare?

Oh well, at least it underlines them when my mouse is over them, so that'll so I guess?

Cheers

AhA! I've sorted it! It appears that when I upgraded, it kept the compatability view option 'on' for this site. When I switch this off, the commas return! Just wasn't clear that the CV was still 'on'!

CooL!

I am so frustrated with page loading problems. Suspect it is IE9 :-(

Now using Firefox to see if it is better. Will let you know. It also might be Hellkom up to their poor service delivery again.

Anyone who is using IE, Firefox or GoogleChrome should seriously consider UPGRADING their internet experience to Opera Ver 11.

It's nice huh. But I'm still using Firefox, eventhough it's not as pretty. and cause opera keeps messing with my bookmarks.
