Oh bugger - was this first thought that went through my mind when I unpacked my first ever canister filter. I've been planning to do a big boy's tank for a while - one with CO2, canister, more light, good reflectors - some substrate and all the rest that goes with it. Taken me a few months to get the bits an peaces but this weekend was the possible rescape weekend if I could get my hands on a few times this morning.

Well I think it is not to be ... enough said. I am off to go mow the lawn while I ponder this little dilemma.

Still don't get it - its a 1400l/h canister for a standard 4ft - I think that might be a bit to much for a planted tank.

yeah, whats the problem? Dont judge the box! Open the thing. It is bound to be smaller. In any case, the saying is you can not over filter.

:bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile:LOL - even better yet - RTFM :idea: ...

On-closer inspection of the manual I see that the 1400l/h is the - no filter media - no return head volume- and that the actual installed flow is more like 900 l/h - much better. So I it is time to start the rescape. :bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile:

Bit late in the day - well at least I got other stuff done - mowed the lawn, drained / cleaned the pond - replaced the impeller.

I hear you .shihr

So we started by removing the plant and the fish - man they are fast.

Moved on to getting rid of the pebbles I used in the past - the plan was to do it all out-side but somehow that changed.

more than a 3/4 of a 20l bucket was filled this way.

Starting to add some hard scape items back - drift with java fern.

Sorry bad photo - but now I need food before we continue.

only add 1/4 of the original plants back into the tank .. not sure it is what I wanted but lets see once it clears.

Running only 1 36W at the moment - will see what it looks like in the morning.
