Hi Everyone! My Dalmaton salifin Molly(male) has started doing something crazy :stupid:, he swims up and down fast against the glass of the tank, he does this for hours, he even makes me tired just watching him.There's no female Mollies in the tank, water parameters are good, temp 26. Does anyone know why he's doing this?

Ye! maybe but he still looks totally out of control though and as i said he does it for hours not just a few minutes. He would have calmed down after a shock wouldn't he?

Get him a good woman man...... maybe a few, in his world, thats allowed, luck sod...... don't tell my wife i said that...... he's frustrated......
Mine seems to dribble the floating pellets that I feed them, I've tried to catch it in video, but just cant get it right......
Yip, I do think that they have their own little personalities......

lol!!! I watched him yesterday I think you're right he is desparate for a woman he was chasing all the females in the tank that weren't his species, poor bugger that's just sad. There's two females in my quarantine tank just waiting to finish up with them then he'll get all the luck in the world. as you said lucky sod! And don't worry your secret is safe with me. hee! hee! hee! :)

Coming back as a fishy would be cool, you could have as many females/males as you like and not worry about VD'S.
My poor male guppy lost his mate a few weeks ago whilst trying to give birth. I replaced her for his delight... But guess what... he ain't even remotely interested in the new female. It's like he doesn't even know she's in the tank.
But throw in 2 female swords... and now he's been trying to jump THEM for 2 weeks. I was sure he was going to tire himself out trying... but, to my surprise, he's still going at it.
What would I get if I cross a guppy and a sword? (A Swuppy???)

Geezz! If your guppy gets it right the babies would look very interesting! The sword tails remind me of Angelina Jolie and the guppies remind me of Woody Alan, what a combination!!! lol!!!
Hmmm... Angelina Jolie... now that you mention it, I do see a resemblance

My wife started naming all of our fish at a stage, I must suggest that one to her for my Sailfin Pleco.......
It just got confusing for her, the Danios all looked the same.....

except my Jaguar male, he's called "you cheeky little f%$#er", I gave it to him just after he bit me!!!!!! And he bit me open....

The jaguar cichlid is beautiful but can be a bit vicious when it wants to be!!!
Going back to the start of this one lol....I generally see fish swim up and down the glass if they're in a new aquarium. It does tend to settle after a few days. Sorry I can't agree with the whole needing a woman thing, as much as I'd like to...lol

Well i have tetras, angels, plecos, mollies, white widows, platties, chinese algea eaters, clown laoches, guppies, gouramis, a siamese fighter, bala sharks & glass fish!

Just wanting to see if dynamics perhaps play a part here. Was he the last addition?

What size tank is it Fish? And what are the quantities of the fishies? Just sounds to me that you might have it a bit overstocked, and your molly is looking for a quiet spot.

The tank is a 1meter /280Lt tank.
Sounds like a busy tank, but I am not a fundi. So I could not say if that is overstocked or not

I think it is a bit over stocked but most of them all came from bad homes what else could i do!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Yes, your tank is WAY over stocked. Check the adult size of your current fish.....clown loaches, bala sharks, pleco - very large fish :)

Catch an acute dose of MTS LOL
Your choices are either to get more tanks and divide the fish accordingly or got to your LFS and see if they will give you store credit on the fish or you could sell them.... I vote for the more tanks option :) It's lonely here in MTS world :D:D

Keep that amount of fish in the tank, and just one needs to get sick and it will clear your tank fast......
Yeah join me.....join me PLEASE! :D Besides it's a REALLY good reason to purchase more tanks....and more...and more....and more.
Beware though, our neighbours house will be on the market soon and we were discussing purchasing it........for our TANKS! CRAZY things this MTS makes you do :D

MY HOUSE IS ALSO STARTING TO LOOK LIKE A SANCTUARY..... MY WIFE LOVED THE FIRST TWO TANKS, NOW, MMMMM SHE IS CHANGING HER MIND..

The tank gets dosed with general tonic once a month for seven days and it doesn't destroy the natural bacteria that's what's so nice about this new tonic i found at Little Falls Garden centre, it's brilliant but the name illudes me right now, Will look tonight and let you guys know what's it's called. They even developed a tonic for swim bladder disease. Pretty cool!!!!
