we always seem to wanna re-scape :)
I guess it kinda comes with the teritory of fish keeping.
hein24 I think it has more to do with us getting bored with the looks!!!
Guys, just remember, if you move plants around too many times, they don't get a chance to grow. Plants need to:
(1) Acclimatize to the new tank [even changing the fertz, undergravel fertz etc will need the plant to reacclimatize)
(2) Grow roots into the substrate
(3) Start showing growth / recovery in the leaves
(4) New growth.
Sometimes this whole process can take a few weeks, and I've had Cryps and even simple Vallis take MONTHS. The moment you uproot, you start the process again, and eventually, the plant will die off.
Good points Zoom -
I was also reading up on some plant substrate kit - "JBL ProfloraStart" and they had a note:
"Important note:
After planting, the plants need 3 - 4 weeks to adapt to their new surroundings. During this time they absorb practically no nutrients. Therefore we recommend giving a dose of JBL Ferropol for the total amount of water only after approx. 4 weeks. Adding the dose earlier may lead to the growth of undesirable algae, as the nutrients cannot be used by the plants."
And to be honest - I never thought of it that way in a new tank ... we are always so keen on getting things fertilized and ready to grow that acclimatization is not only relevant for LFS bought emersed growth vs submerged but also for transplantings. So maybe the best thing for a newly planted tank is more regular WC till things start needing more fertz and have established them selves?

Looking good man. i would get some extra plant species with differing leaf shapes and maybe lose the ornament. Otherwise this is off to a good start.

Took your advice. Did rescape without the ornament. But still looking for other shaped plants. Will post pics tomorrow
