Hi all, we got a 2m tank at a good price, cleaned 90kg of riversand. put in sand and water and let it run for a couple of weeks. Solex came round on Saturday and we roped him into planting the tank. Here are the first 2 crappy photos so Solex can see his wonderful work...

Thanx Dale - It looks good.

I have added 2x T5's

Ill get Veegal to take some real photos soon

Awesome stuff Gav....now to get more tubes as well as some CO2 & ferts in there and give it time to grow. We can fine tune the scape again in a few weeks time

Looks great Zafgak! I agree with Dale, i'm running 4x T5's (3 6500k and 1 18000K) and CO2... I can literally see my plants grow 10mm or more every day.

Once again thanks Dale for helping out with the planting. As most of you probably know, plants are not my forte at all :)

Now to decide WHAT to put into the tank.....lol.

Jaguar if you knew how much pain went into moving this tank and cleaning the riversand you'd be relieved :)

Yip Speedz it took FOREVER and HUGE amounts of sore muscles. Dale actually popped in the weekend we were cleaning the sand and can you believe, he never even offered to help? I mean how much fun could he have had! (LOL - he actually wasn't dressed for the occassion) :)

Veegal, that is a labour of love...... Worth the sweat......
My wife just gave permission to build / have built a 2.3m tank...... So it will be replacing my 1.5m soon.... Yip My turn is comming!!!!!

And a decent size tank is excellent for baby sitting toddlers!!!! (When Empty)

nice setup. so theres actualy no substrate like peat etc underneath that riversand?

solex Question: is it realy worth it to put in a mix of lime and potting soil underneath your river sand like the wahlstadt method?

Hi Carl_P - Nope we dont put in anything other than the riversand and once the plants have taken +- 1-2 months they grow like bas___ds...

@carl - Having a nutrient rich substrate is very rewarding yes, pity I've never embarked on getting one myself because I'm having gr8 sucess with only using fine silica sand. I know that Phil has got a whole concoction of a substrate that his plants love him for...run a search on here for his substrate as he detailed it before (can't remember in which post it was)
