View Full Version : All male guppies for a 1.2m ??
Hi
I've seen about 30 guppies swimming in 60cm tank and it looks stunning!! Now I would like to know...can I put about 70 male guppies in a 1.2m tank? Would that be too much? Will I have a tank full of unhappy males because there are no females or will they be ok?
Thanx for the help and brilliant forum.
Should be ok, what filters are you running.

i hear those guppies can get pretty heavy :) you better watch out.
Dont know that much about the filters... Its one that the petshop owner said would be "more than enough for that size tank" :) It worked fine as my community tank.
I do have another one spare if I see any problems.
Add some plants - if you are concerned about filtration. It helps loads ...

Ahw!.... Come-on!..... in a 1.2m???...... Put 250 male Guppies in there!..... I can vouch for it!.... they'll do just fine and make a fabulous display.... No need for drastic measures either..... They'll be as happy as a fish in water (sic).... I guarantee!.... Water change 25% per month and feed once daily.... Standard filtration..... Standard aeration.
I have more then 50 guppies in my 2 foot. i only have standard filtration in the tank but have loads of plants and my water is always perfect. Those guppies poo so much the plants dont even need light to grow haha.
I'd love to see some pics when it's all set up. Should look spectacular! :)
Thanx Cheetah. Thats the reply I was hoping for ;-) Now I have another problem... Where do I find exceptional guppies.I dont want the ordinary guppies one finds in the petshops. Anyone know of any near cape town? I only want a few males and females to start breeding... To buy 250 would be too much!
PM Prof - he has good Endler stock ..

Send Gregorian a PM know he has some Endlers he want sell (about 100 for R250). He lives in Kraaifontein and could probably meet you halfway (Malmesbury)
Whats the difference between guppies and endlers? Endlers are smaller...I think.
Endlers are smaller (and more colourfull), but also lack the flowing splendour of the Guppy fins..... I would stick to Guppy males for a spectacular display..... They do a better "Group" view than Endlers where you have to watch individuals to appreciate them.....
